Republic Day Celebration

Republic Day was celebrated on 26-01-2024 with great fervor. Revered Swami Vishwatmanandaji, President, Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi unfurled the National Flag and delivered a short and inspiring speech. Singing of National Anthem and a cultural programme on Ram Lila was staged by the Nursing Students and others of Sevashrama.

Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Samaroha

On the occasion of Consecration of Sri Rama Mandir at Ayodhya on 22<>supnd January, 2024, a Special Puja of Bhagawan Sri Ramchandra and Sri Ramnam Sankirtan was performed in our centre. Monks, all categories of Staff and Students, Devotees, Inmates participated in the programme. In the evening our Temple, Statue of Swamiji and Natraj were illuminated.

Christmas Eve Celebrations 2023

Christmas Eve and Vow of renunciation was celebrated on 24th December 2023, in Sevashrama as per tradition.
The function took place in Vivekananda Hall of Sevashrama with Arati, Reading of Bible, Lecture on Life and Teachings of Christ (in Bengali & Hindi) and Carol Singing.

Upgraded Physiotherapy Unit

The said unit was formally dedicated on 8th September, 2023, the World Physiotherapy Day, by the Commissioner of Police, Varanasi City, Sri Mutha Ashok Jain. Prof. Nagendra Pandey, Adhyaksha, Kashi Vishwanath Temples, Dr. S.S. Pandey, Asst. Professor, Physiotherapy Dept., BHU and Sri Manoj Kumar Sharma, D.I.G., NDRF spoke on the occasion.

Independence Celebration

The 77th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 15th August 2023. Revered Swami Dayatmanandaji Maharaj, a very senior monk of the order, hoisted the National Flag in Sevashrama Campus and delivered a short speech. Singing of the National Anthem followed. As part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebration i.e. 75th Years of Independence and based upon the theme “Har Ghar Tiranga” & “Meri Maati Mera Desh” as suggested by the Central Government and shared by our Headquarters, a Cultural programme “Panch Pran” was staged by the Nursing Staff, Students and others.

Shivaratri

On February 18, 2023 Shivaratri was celebrated at Laveshwar Shiva Temple of Sevashrama with Puja, Chanting of Stotras, singing of Bhajans etc. during the first quarter of the festival night as per tradition. In the adjacent Advaita Ashrama Puja, Havan etc. were performed throughout the night.

Swami Vivekananda's Utsav & Narayan Puja

On 22-01-2023 Swami Vivekananda's Birth Anniversary Celebration was held in Sevashrama with special puja at Swamiji's temple and Rogi Narayan Puja in the Hospital. All the inpatients were ceremoniously worshipped and distributed Woollen Shawls, Books on Swamiji, Fruits etc. Hospital Wards were decorated by the respective departmental staff uniquely and various cultural programmes, tableaus, models were presented by them. Lunch Prasad was served to doctors, well-wishers and others. About 3,500 people took Prasad.

Cultural Show based upon – “Swadesh Mantra of Swami Vivekananda and Kadam Kadam Badhaye Jaa” were performed by the Nursing Staff & Students of Sevashrama.

Christmas Eve and Vow of renunciation was celebrated on 24th December 2022, in Sevashrama as per tradition. The function took place in Vivekananda Hall of Sevashrama with Arati, Reading of Bible, Lecture on Life and Teachings of Christ (in Bengali & Hindi) and Carol Singing.

Dental Unit Extension

Newly renovated Dental OPD with extra chairs was inaugurated on 11-10-2022 by Revered Swami Suhitanandaji Maharaj, during his visit of Varanasi.

New Cabins

Under growing demand from the patient parties for Cabins, 18 more AC Cabins have been added and made functional w.e.f. 15-08-2022, the Independence Day. Revered Swami Vishwatmanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi inaugurated the same. On this occasion Woolen Shawls, Fruits and Snacks were distributed among Rogi Narayans.

Youth Cell


The 125th Foundation Day of Ramakrishna Mission was observed on Sunday 1st May, 2022 by Sevashrama & Advaita Ashrama jointly. In the evening a public meeting was held in the courtyard of Advaita Ashrama in front of the Main Temple. Revered Swami Vishwatmanandaji, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi welcomed the gathering. The proceedings of the preliminary meeting held on Saturday 1st May 1897 and the second meeting of the association held on Wednesday 5th May 1897, both at Balaram Bose’s house in Calcutta, was read out by Swami Bhedatitananda, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Home of Service, Varanasi. Revered Swami Brahmeshanandaji (in Hindi) and Revered Swami Alokanandaji (in Bengali) spoke about the history, growth and other aspects of Ramakrishna Mission. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Swami Rajendranandaji.

Youth Cell

A Youth Cell namely "Vivekananda Study Circle" has been started at Varanasi jointly by Sevashrama and Advaita Ashrama as per instruction and guidance of Ramakrishna Mission H.Q. Every Sunday morning some 40 youths join the programme and learn meditation, Vedic prayers, Character formation and study of Swami Vivekananda literature.

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The 75th Year of Indian Independence & 125th Anniversary (Foundation Year) of Ramakrishna Mission was celebrated in a befitting manner. All the programmes were conducted as per guidelines of the Head Quarters and emphasis was to  enrich the  students  community  with  regards to the life  and  message  of  Swami  Vivekananda  -  His influence on India’s struggle for Independence, His thoughts about Social Upliftment, Women Empowerment etc.

The  following  Programmes  were  conducted  in  Sevashrama  &  Advaita Ashrama campus:

  • Written Competition based on Swamiji’s Life & Message:
    For the Nursing Trainees of Sevashrama, 35 trainees took part.
    For the Students of 20 Schools of Varanasi, in two groups. 1st group for Class VI to IX and 2nd group for X to XII students, total 76 students took part.
  • Fancy Dress Competition (selected characters) for the children of the Sevashrama Staffs, 17 children took part.Rank Holders 1st, 2nd & 3rd for the competitions held, got special prizes and the others got participation certificates and token gifts.
  • A Drama based upon a story of Mahabharata, as narrated by Swami Vivekananda was staged by the Nursing Staff and students of Sevashrama.
  • On 15th August 2022, our Independence Day, Swami Vishwatmanandaji Maharaj, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Advaita Ashrama, Varanasi, hoisted the National Flag in Sevashrama Campus and delivered a short speech. Singing of the National Anthem followed. A dance drama titled ‘Vande Mataram’ was staged by the Nursing Students and others of Sevashrama.

National Youth Day

National Youth Day (Birthday of Swami Vivekananda) & Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (75th Year of Indian Independence) were celebrated on 12-01-2022. On this auspicious day Special Puja was offered at Lord Bireshwar Shiva Temple (Scindia Ghat) & Swamiji’s Temple in the Sevashrama. 

Swamiji’s Statue (in front of OPD Building) was decorated and all present offered flowers to Swamiji’s Feet. Swami Dayatmananda dedicated the lift in the OPD Building. All the inpatients were distributed woollen shawls, books on Swamiji & Fruits etc. Songs on Swamiji were sung by the Nursing Staff & Students of Sevashrama. Swami Dharanidharananda in Hindi and Sri Sandeep Das, Volunteer, in English, spoke on the occasion. 

Online Programme to Five Remote Telemedicine Centres were conducted by Vivek Sanjivini. Swami Divyasukhananda, Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Smt. Kanchan Vishwakarma spoke on the occasion. 

In the night Sevashrama was decorated with lighting.

New X-Ray machine

On Sri Krishna Janmashtami Day – 30 August 2021, Swami Dayatmaananda ji Maharaj dedicated New X-Ray machine in the presence of monks, brahmacharins, volunteers, staff and other people.

Covid-19 Relief Services

Starting from April 2020, some 12,000 families had been provided with dry rations and readymade food articles, in Varanasi City, Villages in Mirzapur & Sonbhadra Districts and on the National Highways for migrant labourers. Items like Rice, Dal, Potato, Mustard Oil, Onion, Sattu, Water Bottles etc. and Health Care support like Soaps & Face Masks were supplied. In the Varanasi City itself, some 400 Destitute Widows, Stranded Pilgrims in the nearby Hotels, Auto-drivers, Rickshaw Pullers, Boatmen and families of some Sevashrama Staff were provided with these supplies.

Swami Vivekananda's Utsav & Narayan Puja

Swami Vivekananda's Birthday was celebrated at the Sevashrama on Sunday, 7th February 2021.

In the spirit of the ideal given by Swami Vivekananda the Home of Service has been doing the worship of God in Man "Narayan Puja". Narayan Puja at the Hospital began at 9.00 am with worship and garlanding of "Nataraja Statue" in front of Hospital Gate and the statue of Swami Vivekananda nearby. Each patient was garlanded and given fruit offerings as "Narayana". The brahmacharins and monks chanted "Narayan Suktam and Narayan Upanishad" throughout the 90 minutes puja done in each ward.

From 12 noon onwards, Prasad was distributed to all staff and their families, doctors and their families, and other invitees.
